It聮s never ending isn聮t it? Every day the responsibilities, tasks, problems and work mounts up. Everyone needs it now! And all the high tech gadgets and tools don聮t seem to help either. If anything, they seem to speed up your life.

Did you know that 1 in 2 people have experienced stress by the time they are 40? So, are you suffering from stress and can you cope?

Admitting you cannot cope

Okay, so you admit it. You are stressed. It takes courage to recognise you cannot cope and you聮re suffering, but it聮s the first step to beating stress. And the solution to every problem starts with taking that first step. Trouble is, most people cannot see it.

You are often the last person to see you have a problem. If you were to ask your friends and family, they would tell you. But they won聮t tell you unless you ask(they don聮t want to be rude!).

But now that you have taken the first step, what part of your life do you not enjoy anymore? When do feel on edge? Do you have time for your own indulgence? To relax? To do something for yourself?

Does that feel selfish? Are you starting to resent all the responsibilities, jobs, tasks or people who fill your life night and day? Or maybe, it聮s been like that for as long as you can remember.

It聮s time to stand back, take stock and take action.

Recognising the signs of your distress

How do you know if it聮s stress you聮re suffering from? What are the symptoms to look for? There are 3 different types of symptom, physical, emotional and mental.

Physical symptoms can include,

路 Indigestion
路 Skin breakouts
路 Shortness of breath
路 Cold hands
路 Sleeplessness or sleeping too much

路 Nausea
路 Diarrhoea

Emotional symptoms can include,

For many of us, this means battling stress that can sometimes take over our day causing us physical and emotional ramifications that can affect our overall health. In an effort to battle this stress, some turn to mediations to ease their symptoms and keep their thoughts focused. But for others, a commitment to natural stress relief can mean tackling stress without a dependency on pills.

Natural stress relief comes in many forms and what must first be understood is that what works for one person may not necessarily work for another. Just as our stress differs, so does the ways in which we relieve it. But it is rare that one form or another of natural stress relief will not work for someone. The key is to make yourself a priority and take care of yourself 聳 even if it聮s just fifteen minutes a day. But for some, keeping that commitment can be a lot more difficult than it sounds.

Most often, a holistic approach is the best form of natural stress relief. This many include a periodic massage. Massage has been shown to reduce stress, lower heart rate, and even lower blood pressure. Make a standing appointment for a massage 聳 whatever variety most appeals to you 聳 at least once a month. Exercise has also been shown to be a significant form of natural stress relief. Sometimes, just simply turning off the day and focusing on yourself for an hour can make all the difference in the world. For others, meditation fits the bill when it comes to natural stress relief. Of course, meditation is actually a learned skill so in order to learn how to clear you mind you may need some initial instruction.

Additionally, some people find that acupuncture, therapeutic massage, and chiropractic work all help in alleviating stress. Ultimately it is up to you to find the thing that brings you comfort and joy and provides you with a reprieve from the outside world.
