Reality TV Weight Loss
Reality TV programs are popping up everywhere. It started with "Survivor," but since then reality TV has really branched out. We have regular people (not actors) racing around the world and engaging in all kinds of activities in hopes of winning a million bucks. We have people courting and choosing mates. Reality TV seems limitless. It's no surprise that weight loss reality TV has made it into American living rooms and dens.
It's amazing, really. You see people who are grossly overweight set out to lose a lot of weight, and in a relatively short period of time. These "contestants" live in a vacuum that can't come anywhere close to emulating real people out there in the real world who are dieting and exercising in an effort to lose unwanted pounds.
The "contestants" (I don't know what else to call them.) are surrounded by doctors, dieticians, fitness instructors, and other professionals 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Professionals are in charge of meal planning, portion control, and exercise regimes.
There have been reports that the TV audience isn't treated to what REALLY goes on behind the scenes, like vomiting, purging, and use of strong diet suppressants and diuretics. The networks, of course, deny these allegations vigorously.
My main objection to these reality weight loss television programs is that viewers can be "tricked" into believing that they can accomplish the same
amazing results at home. They can't. Those of us who live out here in the "real" world have families, jobs, relationships, and hundreds of other distractions. Nobody prepares our meals for us, and nobody controls portion sizes except us. We don't have a registered dietician on call. We don't have a personal trainer that we can depend upon at any hour of the day or night, either.
Things are a bit different out here in the real world, where diet and exercise programs are a lot harder to stick to.
BONUS : Recipe For The Cabbage Soup Diet Revealed
Are you looking for the recipe for the cabbage soup diet? The program is designed to let you lose 10 pounds in 7 days while not experiencing any hunger. Thats because you can eat as much of the low calorie soup along with the other prescribed foods each day. The recipe for the cabbage soup diet is as follows:
· 6 large green onions
· 2 green peppers
· 1 or 2 cans of tomatoes (diced or whole)
· 3 Carrots
· 1 Container (10 oz. or so) Mushrooms
· 1 bunch of celery
· half a head of cabbage
· 1 package Lipton soup mix
· 1 or 2 cubes of bouillon (optional)
· 1 48oz can V8 juice (optional)
· If V8 juice is not used, put in 12 cups of water
If youre ambitious, you will sauté the green onions first. Otherwise, you put everything in a big pot and boil it for a couple of hours. The Lipton soup and bouillon should have all the salt you need to season it.
Refrigerate it and youll have all the soup you need for at least the first few days on the diet.
The soup is a little bland. You can doctor up the cabbage soup diet recipe with salt, pepper, parsley, curry, garlic powder, or other calorie-free spices.
In addition to the soup, the diet allows you certain foods on specific days:
Day 1: All the fruit you want except bananas.
Day 2: All the vegetables you want plus one big baked potato with butter.
Day 3: All the fruit and vegetables you want except bananas and potatoes.
Day 4: Bananas and skim milk plus the soup only.
Day 5: 16 oz. of beef and up to 6 tomatoes.
Day 6: 2 to 3 steaks and all the vegetables you want. No baked potato though.
Day 7: Brown rice, unsweetened fruit juices and vegetables
Make sure that you eat at least one serving of soup each day. Dont be afraid to stuff yourself with the foods allowed on a particular day.
The reason this diet works is that you cant eat enough of the foods to maintain your weight. The soup has hardly any calories at all. And, even if you ate 8 bananas and 8 cups of skim milk in a day, youre probably still coming in under 1000 calories.
The recipe for the Cabbage Soup Diet is simple. You will probably make 2 to 3 pots of it during the 7 days and reheat a single serving in the microwave. The supplemental foods are also easy to prepare.
It is recommended that you wait at least a week after finishing a Cabbage Soup Diet cycle before starting again, even if you have a lot of weight to lose. During the interim period, eat normally, but do not over eat.
And, thats the recipe for the Cabbage Soup diet.
