Now, to speak of the dangers of herbal weight loss. There are a great number of herbal supplements out there, each offering different ways to help you lose weight. But it’s important to use sound, rational judgment to decide which herbal weight loss plan is right for you. Otherwise you might find yourself getting conned out of your money, and maybe doing damage to your health.


For example, in 2007, Kevin Trudeau published a book titled, "The Weight Loss Cure "They" Don't Want You to Know About", in which he advised taking on a diet plan involving herbal supplements that would, according to Trudeau, have you losing weight at miraculous speed. Who “they” are and why “they” don’t want you to know about these plans is, of course, never explained in the book.


Trudeau himself has no certified medical expertise, and is a convicted felon. Clinical research into the methods advised in the book showed it to be ineffective against weight loss. Nevertheless, the book became a bestseller, and Trudeau has published two more best selling works. How is this possible?


Unfortunately, those looking to lose weight will look into herbal weight loss as they are in a desperate situation and looking for a miracle cure. Unfortunately, there’s no such thing. It’s important that your diet combines the two fundamentally important factors of losing weight: Exercising and eating right. These are not so easy to achieve, and as a result, dieters stay on the look out for books and fads that advocate a simple, easy way to lose weight without having to obey the laws of biology.

In conclusion, herbal weight loss plans and supplements can help you to lose weight and get healthy, but they can’t be the beginning and end of the solution. Herbs that assist and help you in your goals are great, but make sure those out there looking for easy money don’t fool you. If a new diet plan or miracle cure looks too good to be true, it probably is.

High-protein/low-carb diets are all the rage today. You can find one standing on every proverbial street corner promising quick and painless weight loss.

According to those who promote high-protein/low-carb diets, there is absolutely NO REASON why you have to eat any less. All you have to do is simply drastically decrease carb consumption while drastically increasing protein consumption. I've got to admit, that SOUNDS like an excellent plan. I sure don't want to have to eat less in order to lose weight, and I don't know anybody who does.

Now, do NOT misunderstand me here. Many low-carb diets are not only very effective, but are also healthy. However, these low-carb diets aren't necessarily high-protein diets. The good ones also promote portion control and total daily caloric intake based upon total daily caloric burn.

One of the most disgusting side effects of a high-protein diet is that it causes bad breath. I'm not talking about a little bad breath that can be controlled with a breath mint. I'm talking about bad breath that could stop a charging bull moose at 40 paces. I'm talking about REALLY, REALLY BAD BREATH!

Ketosis is what occurs when the amount of carbohydrates consumed drops below a critical level. The drop forces the body to turn to protein first and then to fat reserves to do the work that carbohydrates normally do. Eating a high-protein/low-carb diet will cause ketosis. Ketosis produces really bad breath. It's sometimes called "keto breath" or "acetone breath." It doesn't much matter what you call it — it is really bad breath than no amount of tooth brushing or mouth washing can overcome.

Low-carb/high-protein diets are very popular right now, but they aren't the only weight loss diet choice. In my opinion, there are better choices.
