Everybody sweats but if you find that you are sweating like a pig and you feel constantly embarrassed you might want to find out how to stop sweating so much. We have provided for you some great tips on how you can reduce the amount and how often you sweat. Sweating is an important body function that is designed to keep your body cool, so we will tell you how to stop excessive sweating. However, you must remember in some instances it is important for your body to sweat such as on a hot day and when you are exercising.

If you are overweight you need to go on a diet immediately and exercise regularly that might be all you need to do to stop sweating so much. However, the problem might lie a little deeper and you may actually have a condition that is making you sweat profusely.

Many people who sweat excessively are diagnosed with a condition called hyperthyroidism and in a nutshell it means that you have an overactive thyroid gland. There are a number of medical examinations and tests the doctor can do to determine whether or not you have this condition, however blood tests are usually the preferred option because they are very accurate and easy to do. Once you have been diagnosed with this condition you can stop sweating so much because the doctor will prescribe medication to control the condition.

If you don’t suffer from hyperthyroidism you may have what is known as hyperhidrosis or excessive sweating. To determine if you have this condition and to stop sweating so much there are a number of tests that can be done. Two of the most popular are the starch-iodine test and the paper test. These include a starch-iodine test – this is where iodine liquid is applied to the area where you get excess sweat and after it dries, starch is put on the area and the combination of starch and iodine turns dark blue if the area is prone to excess sweat. Doctors also do a paper test to determine if you suffer from the condition.

If there is no underlying cause to your excess sweating, you might have to look into your personal hygiene to stop sweating so much. Sweating a lot does not mean that you are dirty or unclean it just means that you have more active sweat glands than other people. To begin with make sure you bathe or shower everyday as this will keep your body clean, stop you sweating so much and get rid of the odor caused by sweating. Having body hair on the area where you sweat makes the sweat worse and makes it smell so it is preferable that you shave that area i.e. the underarm.

Keeping your clothes clean is important if you are a person that sweats a lot. Only wear clothes for one day at a time and after you have finished wearing them make sure that you soak them for a few hours in order to get rid of the odor before putting it in the washing machine with your other clothes.

To stop sweating it is important to look at how you dress and your dietary habits. If you have a problem with excessive sweating it is important that you wear clothes that will ease the problem and wear as few a layers as possible. Instead of wearing heavy clothes and fabrics made from synthetic material choose clothes that sit loose on you and are made from light flowly fabrics.

Taking stock of your current diet is vital; make sure that you are consuming a balanced diet filled with lots of vitamins and minerals. Avoid ``sweat inducing’’ foods and drinks such as caffeine, alcohol and spicy foods. Above all make sure that you are drinking plenty of water and fluids, as drinking water will help your body stop sweating as well as keeping you cool and refreshed.

To stop sweating, personal hygiene is of utmost importance. Make sure that you shower/bathe everyday and if you find that you have sweated during the day or at night you will need to shower again. The more often you shower/ wash yourself the more bacteria you are removing from your body. Using an antibacterial soap regularly is important to stop you from sweating as well.

Many people think that in order to stop sweating they have to wear a deodorant but this is not the case. Deodorants are just fragrances that make you smell nice, it is the antiperspirant or antiperspirant deodorant that is the important thing here. There are plenty of deodorants available at supermarkets and pharmacies however many people that suffer from hyperhidrosis find that store bought antiperspirants don’t work. Instead they use prescription strength antiperspirants available at pharmacies. To stop sweating try some antiperspirants out and see which one works for you.

Many people that are overweight have an excessive sweating problem – if you think that you are carrying extra weight it would probably be a good idea that you started watching your diet and doing some exercises in order to drop a few pounds – that may be all you need to do in order to stop sweating.

Follow some of these stop sweating tips and see if there are any changes in the amount of sweat that you perspire. However, after applying some of the above methods and you see no change you may need to speak to your doctor about other proven treatments such as oral medications, Botox and Endoscopic surgery.
