Bodybuilding for Underweight People

You want to start a bodybuilding program but you are underweight. Don't worry; you can still participate in bodybuilding, and help your body to gain needed weight without getting fat! It is all in the nutrition and supplements, and in building muscle.

Start with proper nutrition. The first thing that you need is lots of protein. Do not, however, make the mistake of filling up on junk food for the purpose of gaining weight this isn't the way that it is done. You need nutrition that properly feeds your muscles, with a good mix of meats, vegetables, and fruits. You should be eating six meals a day.

Next, you need supplements. Don't focus on weight-gaining supplements. Focus on supplements that make you healthier. Start with a good multivitamin. Whey protein is the next supplement that you need. Flaxseed oil is also good, as it has the essential fatty acids that your body needs.

Other supplements that you should invest in include creatine, glutamine, thermogenics, HMB, and CLA. Also invest in some meal-replacement bars and shakes, so that if you don't have time for a proper meal, you are still actually eating right without resorting to unhealthy fast food. How many bodybuilders have you seen in your local fast food restaurants? None!

You need water, and lots of it. The recommended water intake of eight to ten glasses isn't enough for body builders. Try 16 glasses of water a day instead, and you will help to keep your muscles healthy and avoid injuries while working out due to dehydrated muscles and tissues.

You need lots of rest. Eight to ten hours of sleep per day is essential. Your muscles don't grow when you are working out. They grow while you are resting, while the muscles are repairing after working out.

Finally, you need a good workout program. It is important to consult with a personal trainer to develop the workout program that is right for you. Also, don't overtrain by working the same muscles two or three days in a row, without giving them a chance to repair with the rest that they need.

BONUS : Bodybuilding for Vegetarians

You may think that if you are a vegetarian, you can't possibly participate in bodybuilding to the point where you reach competition status. You would be wrong. Many bodybuilders are vegetarians. This misconception comes from the fact that bodybuilders need protein, and protein is associated with meat. Fortunately for all vegetarians, meat is not the only source of protein. Let's dispel some vegetarian bodybuilding myths.

Myth #1: Vegetarians can't become bodybuilders because they don't get any protein.

This is absolutely false. Protein also comes from dairy products, grains, and beans. In fact, whey protein, which does not contain any animal by-products, is one of the most popular bodybuilding products on the market.

Myth #2: Bodybuilders need lots of nutrients that can only come from meat.

False again. Bodybuilders use supplements to make sure that they are getting the right amount of vitamins and minerals. In fact, the amount of vitamins and minerals needed by bodybuilders cannot possibly be obtained just from the food that they eat even if they do eat meat.

Myth #3: Vegetarians don't weigh enough to become bodybuilders.

Wrong again. Muscle has weight to it, and as muscle grows, a person weighs more even if they are a vegetarian.

Myth #4: Vegetarians don't have the energy to be bodybuilders, nor the strength.

Energy is not just derived by eating meat. Energy is derived from eating food no matter what that food is. As far as strength goes, strength is built by training, and it doesn't matter what you eat when it comes to training strength.

Myth #5: Vegetarians are not healthy.

Wrong. Vegetarians are typically more healthy than carnivores. They have "cleaner" diets. Vegetarians typically have lower instances of heart disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and even a lower threat of cancer.

You don't have to eat meat to be healthy or to be a bodybuilder. What you have to do is to make sure that you are getting the right amounts of vitamins and minerals, and that you are eating enough of the right foods. Of course, working out also plays a role!
