Body building or even just showing up at a gym can be intimidating for a beginner. Provided below are some tips that can help you get into body building, and into your first fitness club:

Seek Advice - There is no sense trying to learn it everything yourself when starting out in Body Building. Take some time to talk to others who are more experienced, and learn what you can from them. When using new equipment or a new exercise it is also always a good idea to talk to someone, to ensure that you donÂ’t get injured.

Sleep - When working out for the first time it is important to ensure that your body is getting the rest that it needs. This will usually be more than what you were taking before!
Diet - Just as important as sleep itÂ’s important to ensure that your diet is keeping up with your exercise. This doesnÂ’t just mean eating more, it means eating better. Think of your body as an automobile. The more you drive a car, the more fuel you need to put into it. You need to ensure that you are putting the proper fuel in your car as well, to ensure that it will drive consistently and perform to spec.
Set Goals - Set goals that are attainable. Out of reach goals only set yourself up for failure. Take it one step at a time, and enjoy/celebrate your success all the way up the ladder. Whether itÂ’s another 10pounds to your bench press or just making it to the gym 3 days a week, you need to set goals, otherwise itÂ’s easy for your workout to get pushed aside when life gets busy.
Visualize Success - ItÂ’s important to see yourself succeeding before you even begin working out. This winning mind set will take you to new levels in your training and will set yourself up for success!

Be smart about getting into body building to ensure that you will achieve success both mentally and physically.

As in all things, as a society, we are expected to behave a certain way in certain situations. This is also true in the gym. It may be full of sweating people but there are still rules of good etiquette that should be followed. Here are some tips that will help you avoid becoming the guy or gal that everyone at the gym dreads.

1. Be tidy. Nobody wants to use a machine that you've just sweated all over. Bring a towel, and wipe down the equipment after you've used it. Also, remove the weight that you've used from the machine, if this applies. Nobody wants to unload the 500 pounds of weight that you just used, when they only need 250 pounds.

2. Share the equipment. You have to rest between sets. When you see that others are waiting to use the equipment, speak to them, and work out a deal where you share - they can use the machine while you rest, and you can use it while they rest.

3. Leave the cell phone in the locker room. Nobody wants to hear your conversation - and if you are working out, you don't have time to take calls anyway. This is your workout time - you can call them back.

4. Don't blare music - headphones are great, but not entirely soundproof from the outside. Turn your music just loud enough for you to hear it. Your neighbor on the next machine may not like the selection.

5. Choose conversation time wisely. When a person is working out, they are concentrating on what they are doing, and focusing all of their energy into that. They may not want to talk with you while doing this. Stand back, and wait until they are finished if you have something to say to them.

6. Follow the posted rules of the gym. Every gym has rules posted. These rules may also relate to how long you can use equipment for. Make sure that you adhere to these rules.
