One of the most important factors to maintaining healthy aging is to do general check-ups regularly. As we age, bodily functions are slowly inhibited and we are required to practice preventative measures to make sure everything is "in place."

Going to the doctor is no one's favorite activity, but it helps us to identify our weaknesses as aging adults and address those weaknesses to reduce the risk of disease.

Below we have compiled a list of bodily functions that you must check with your doctor as you age. Make sure to stick to this if you want to age as healthily as you possibly can.

(1)Have a complete physical exam to identify any weaknesses in your health, including the potential onset of diabetes, thyroid or kidney problems, and liver malfunction. If you are between the ages of 20 and 30, have a complete physical exam every five years.

You need a physical once every two years if you are 30 to 60, and once per year if you are over 60. This will protect you against bloodborn diseases like anemia and leukemia.

(2)Blood pressure exams are needed to identify signs of heart or cardiovascular disease. If you are over 40, you chould perform a blood pressure exam every four to five years. In the presence of high levels of bad cholesterol, blood pressure should be monitored more often.

(3) Colonoscopies are performed so as to determine the presence of colorectal cancers. If you are over 50, it is wise to have a colonoscopy done once every four years. If there is evidence of hereditary traits of colorectal cancer in your family history, consult your doctor as to how often these exams ough to be done.

At some point you may decide that you should not live alone anymore. Discuss your options with your loved ones. If there are no family members who are able to take you in, there are many places that cater to people as they are growing older. If you are able to live alone but prefer company around your age, then there are communities that help make this happen as well.

Your home should be much more than a house; make it yours. As you age, you might discover that the home you are in isn't the home you expected to grow old in. If you find that you have moved into a new place to call home, surround yourself with special things that make it feel comfortable and welcoming to you.

After you retire or after the kids have left home, take up an old, beloved hobby again as a way to enjoy one of the benefits of the aging process. Since you don't have to spend all of your time raising children or working, you have much more free time to enjoy hobbies and activities you couldn't squeeze into your schedule before. A hobby allows you to remain active and interactive outside of your own home.

Seek advice from your physician about the anti-aging supplements that can work for you. Typical anti-aging supplements include anti-inflammatory medications, vitamins and antioxidants. Proper supplements will help you age with less pain and loss of mobility. These need to be an important aspect in your daily plan.

Don't expose your skin to harsh environments. Every season and all types of weather have the potential to damage your skin. This can lead you to age faster and give you serious skin problems.

Try laughing when ever you can. Happiness is a key ingredient in the aging process; having a lot of laughter and friendship in your life will keep you looking and feeling young. Try watching comedies, going to parties or getting a pet. If you're with your friends, or even if you're alone, laugh as much as you can.

One way to ensure that you age gracefully, is to pay close attention to your daily diet. You should have a balanced, healthy diet that contains lean proteins, vegetables and fruits, healthy fats and whole grains. Avoid processed foods. Many of the essential nutrients and fibers are stripped out of them, and they often contain chemicals which can prematurely age you.

Develop a joyful attitude and spread it to others. The happier you make others feel, the happier you will feel. A happy outlook is free and contagious. Look on the bright side of things and spread the joy of life to others.

Applying the concealer after you have applied your foundation permits you to focus on blemishes more easily. Create a flawless finish by using a makeup brush to blend your concealer.
