Elastin is also slowly depleted as we age, another important factor in the reduction of mobility that is associated with age. Aside from changes in our joints, muscles, and brain, the changes that occur in our skin (such as lack of elasticity and flexibility) also reduce our body's mobility.

Large folding areas such as the neck, elbows, and knees experience less ability to move, more so than other body parts. They also are the most prone to showing the early signs of wrinkling in terms of protected areas of skin.
